Jennifer Aniston Reflects on Feeling Isolated Yet Protected During Her ‘Friends’ Days at 55, Sipping Cocktails at a Party
Jennifer Aniston donned a little black dress and enjoyed a cocktail as she graced the cover of Variety magazine. The cover was for the Actors On Actors edition, where The Morning Show star chatted with Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson and posed for photos by Mary Ellen Matthews. At 55, Jennifer reminisced about her iconic show Friends, which recently marked its 30th anniversary. “It feels surreal to even think about it being 30 years old,” shared the former wife of Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux. The actress also shared that she misses that time period because it was before the age of social media. Aniston explained that she felt more shielded from the world when there was less online activity.
Jennifer, now 55, looked back on the iconic TV show Friends as it celebrated its 30th anniversary. She reminisced about a memory from the show’s early days, recalling a moment with co-star Matthew Perry. “I remember the day it premiered on NBC, Matthew Perry and I were having lunch when we found out Lisa was getting her hair done,” she shared. “We rushed to the salon, and I ended up washing her hair myself, which didn’t go as planned but we were so excited, it feels like it was just yesterday.”
Reflecting on the lack of social media during the filming of Friends, Aniston expressed relief. “During the ’90s and 2000s, we were lucky to not have social media or the internet, so we were shielded and insulated,” she explained. “We didn’t have to deal with people tearing us apart online. It was a simpler time, where we could move around freely in the world without being constantly connected. But on the flip side, there were no phones either, no screens bombarding us with opinions.”
At the Actors On Actors event, Quinta and Jennifer share a warm embrace as they come together for a photo.
The former partner of Brad Pitt expressed her disbelief at the fact that it has been three decades since that time. Furthermore, the famous actress also mentioned how she longs for that period because it was before the dawn of social media. Aniston elaborated on how she felt a sense of security back then when there was less activity on the internet.
